The journey of Donn’s BBQ began with James Milton Howell, a World War II and Korean War veteran, who opened the first location on FM 969 in 1986. In 1987, Jose Guerrero joined the business as a cook and became a partner. After Howell’s retirement, Guerrero and his family took over the operations, expanding the business while maintaining its core values. Today, Donn’s BBQ remains a family-run establishment, with Guerrero’s wife, Denise, and daughter, Maria Peña, actively involved in its management.
