How it all started.
The building housing Harbour Public House boasts a rich history dating back to 1881 when it was constructed as the home of Civil War veteran Ambrose Grow and his wife, Amanda. The Grows homesteaded 160 acres along the waterfront, contributing significantly to the early development of Eagle Harbor. In the late 20th century, Jim and Judy Evans undertook a meticulous restoration of the deteriorating structure, preserving original elements like Douglas Fir walls and repurposing materials for interior features. Their efforts culminated in the establishment of Harbour Public House, which opened as the first non-smoking tavern in the Seattle area.
