Founded by the late Tom Allred in 1986 in Lubbock, Texas, Jazz, A Louisiana Kitchen expanded to Kansas City in 1994, opening its first location on 39th Street. Allred’s vision was to create a place where people could enjoy the rich culinary traditions and musical heritage of Louisiana. The 39th Street building, with its history as a 1920s speakeasy, adds to the restaurant’s unique charm. Over the years, Jazz has grown to include multiple locations, each maintaining the founder’s commitment to authentic flavors and a festive atmosphere.
