the story behind basil tress.
Nick and Mili Dalipi selected Dixon’s underutilized downtown in 2007, renovating a long-vacant building with vision and dedication . Drawing on Nick’s lifelong experience in hospitality, they set out to create a venue rooted in family values and the Italian-American tradition. Staffed largely by local residents—including longtime team members like manager Megan—the restaurant reflects a tight-knit community atmosphere . In 2010, they expanded their footprint by opening the downstairs “Capone Room” — ideal for private gatherings — accessed through a hidden doorway linked to old coal-delivery tunnels beneath the town .
